Archaeology & Anthropology at Cambridge is one of the leading UK departments for Archaeology and Biological Anthropology, Faculty play a leading role in international and national science programs and with consistently high HEFCE research ratings over the last three RAE/REF (1996 5*/5*, 2001 5*/5, 2008 60% graded 4*/3*). The Department has significant depth across a wide range of science-based archaeology including archaeobotany, archaeogenetics, archaeozoology, geoarchaeology, stable isotopic analyses and human osteology. Particular research strengths include: integrated investigations of plant, animal, and hominin dispersals in relation to palaeoclimate; past land use and human impacts on environment; diet, nutrition, and palaeopathology. The Department has very strong links with a range of sciences across the University and beyond, and has on-going research projects on every continent.
